Did the Celtics trade too much to get Garnett?

When their starting point guard who cant shoot is their 4th best player it has me thinking can they win the NBA title if either pierce, garnett, or ray allen is in foul trouble, struggles in a post season series, or is injured for couple games in the series.

i think Boston made a good trade because when they acquired ray Allen on draft night they made it clear that they are going for present then future. Now they get garnett who is the best PF in the NBA although they gave up future talent in Jefferson and green they got garnett. Now if you look in Boston idea some free agents like Chris webber who like to win a championship may sign with Celtics and at the PG spot they are veteran free agents like Brevin Knight, Dee Brown, and Gary Payton who might help rajon rondo. i think in finally Chris webber signs with Boston and if he signs the line up is going to be:

a little too much
They did trade quite a lot to get him, especially Gerald Green, he has definitely improved the last couple of years, and its gonna hit the Celtics next year with some draft picks being involved as well. They would be a lot better if they had somebody like Bruce Bowen- just somebody that could shut a offensive player down and shoot a high percentage from 3 pt. range.
From a players / talent stand point more than likely. I like KG but 7 players for one is a bit much. Add in the cap issues it brings and it makes it worse when the other two stars have injury histories. But from a marketing stand point it was worth it. People are talking about and showing an interest in the Celtics. After being so bad for so long they needed to make a splash.
i dont think that they did i mean none of those players had nearly as much experence as kg did even if kg is getting old but the celtics needed some talent which is exactly what kg has. the celtics have what they had years ago with the big 3 and now kevin garrnet, paul pierce, and ray allen will win the championship soon
i think so. boston gave up an awful lot for KG. basically 7 players if you include the 2 1st rounders in 09. the wolves will suck for a little but in 3 years or so, watch out, they have a lot of good young talent. some say jefferson will be a 20/10 guy in 2-3 years. green and gomes are super talented and have tons of potential. and who knows what players will be in the 09 draft. the trade leaves boston with no bench and no depth whatsoever. but maybe they wont need it. all in all, i think it was a good move by both teams. wolves were rebuilding and werent winning with KG anyway. while the celtics and pierce wanted to win now.
They traded for front page relevance, competing with the likes of the Red Sox and the Patriots. Even if they dont win the title or even make it to the Eastern Conference championship, they're back in the forefront. KG creates buzz in Beantown and buzz sells tickets, merchandise and revenue increases across the board.
KG is priceless man. So no they didnt. i Miss KG in MN
The Celtics may have given up many players for this trade but Garnett is amazing. Look at the Wolves now, they're not going to get anywhere. Having 3 all stars and 3 future hall of famers makes a big difference.
No they gave up only one potential star in jefferson, green won't be a star he has deshawn stevenson 5 years ago written all over him. 2 picks, one which was the wolves to begin with because of the davis/sczerbiak trade and the other is lottery protected. Telfair who was done in boston anyway. Gomes a solid role player and ratliff who will help them more next summer when his contracts up and they can use his money to sign free agents.
I really liked Boston as a younger team. And I liked watching Gearald Green and Big Al improving. But its not a total loss cuz we got one of the best PF in the NBA!
you know, I live in New England and for years, all 3 Boston major league teams have been very stingy, right? Suddenly, this year, all three teams go out and spend big bucks for major talent. Makes me think there was a "meeting of the minds" in Boston. Like maybe politicians and the movers and shakers up there have a Master Plan for the City. Anyway, no, I don't think they traded too much because they traded the future for the present. Who among us may not be alive to see the Celtics come to fruition 3 or 4 years from now???
Time will tell...

We have to see how the Pierce, Allen, KG combo works out. It takes not only talent but chemistry to make a winning team. There is potential for ego problems with 3 genuine stars!

Remember the Malone/Payton enhanced Laker's couldn't even bring them a title.
